Take a day out of your sightseeing in Athens to visit the awe-inspiring Meteora monasteries on this 14hrs excursion. Catch the train for Kalambaka at 08:27 from the Athens railway station and admire the beauty of the countryside along the way. At around 13:30 you’ll arrive in Kalambaka, a small town built at the foot of majestic grey rocky cliffs that are crowned by the monasteries of Meteora, which have been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
When you arrive in Kalambaka, an English-speaking driver will be waiting for you, holding a signboard with your name on it. You’ll be shown to the vehicle that will take you to the monasteries, where you’ll have 3 hours to visit 2 of them. At the end of the day, you’ll be transferred back to Kalambaka, and you’ll have some time to explore the town and enjoy a light lunch (not included in the tour price).
