About this experience

Are you looking for a private and comfortable way to try out the local wine, whisky, and beer in Taiwan?
Many do not know that Taiwanese is actually a big fan of whisky, as it is one of the best sellers alcohol in the nation. The climate of Yilan somehow is a perfect factor for Taiwan to have our very own whisky brand that we are all very proud of.
A variety of flavors of beer is another interesting fact that you may not know of! From lemon and peach type of fruity flavor to the local spices, such as Makao which is like a Taiwanese black pepper, Jim & Dad's Brewing Company is one of a kind!
Shenkeng Old Street may be known most for its (stinky) tofu, but there are more than tofu awaiting for your discovery!

Kavalan Distillery, located in Yilan County, Taiwan, is dedicated to producing Scotch-style single malt whisky. Established in 2005 by King Car Group, the distillery is named after "Kavalan," the historical name for Yilan. With the region’s pristine water and subtropical climate, Kavalan whisky matures faster than whiskies aged in places like Scotland, resulting in a rich and well-rounded flavor.

Since its founding, Kavalan has released a variety of acclaimed whiskies, such as the "Kavalan Classic," "Bourbon Oak," and "Sherry Oak" series, which have won numerous international awards. The distillery includes an exhibition area where visitors can explore the whisky-making process and partake in tastings, allowing them to appreciate how different barrel types and climates influence the flavor profile.

You may experience the whisky mixing DIY in the distillery at your own expenses.

3

Originally the “Yilan Distillery” under the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation, the museum preserves the original architectural style and brewing facilities of the distillery, blending traditional design with modern exhibition elements. The name “Chia Chi Lan” is derived from the old name for Yilan, carrying rich historical and cultural significance for the region. Known for its rice wine, this is a perfect location for people to understand the local culture and get a taste of it.

4

Shenkeng Old Street may be famous for its tofu industry, from fried stinky tofu, braised spicy stinky tofu, to tofu ice cream, but there is some plum wine stores that you should not miss out. Meanwhile, you may also take a walk on the traditional old street or have a dinner at the area.
