Stop 1

A highlight tour such as this would not be complete without a stop at Oia. This idyllic village on the Caldera slope captures the quintessence of what the island is all about: unrivalled beauty, warm and tranquil atmosphere, traditional local architecture, majestic views.

We shall also stop at Firostefani, the ‘crown of Fira’. Deriving its name from its elevated position, this villagegenerously offers some of the best views of the island including the caldera. This location is also home to the Blue Domed Church, a prominent icon of the island that you surely have seen adorning the cover of many a travel guide.

Dating back to 1711, the Monastery of Prophet Ilias (Prophet Elijah) is a major highlight of the island and awaits visitors at the highest point of the island, 600 meters above sea level. Apart from the unrivalled all-encompassing views of the island from this location, the Monastery is also a place of great historical significance, with its churches, chapels, bell tower and wealth of various ecclesiastical items from the 18th century.
