The mission of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum is to cultivate a rich educational space for the diverse, international community served by, and rooted in, the American Western legacy of Cheyenne Frontier Days. Open 9am-5pm daily, come to learn about the nations second-longest continuously running festival! Be transported into the past, and see how this event has shaped the course of Cheyenne and rodeo history.
The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum offers self-guided tours through the Museum during operating hours, daily from 9 am - 5 pm. We have extended hours during Cheyenne Frontier Days. The Museum has its own parking lot next to the Cheyenne Lions Park and Botanic Gardens, and offers a Museum gift store.
All exhibits are ADA accessible. The Museum offers two art shows throughout the year: a 6-week art show run in March and April (the juried Western Spirit Art Show & Sale) and a 4-week art show run in July and August (the invitational Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show and Sale). When these art shows are not on display, the Museum proudly shows its collection of historic carriages.
The Museum's mission is to cultivate and preserve the Western legacy of Cheyenne Frontier Days and its vision is to be an accredited, sustainable, culturally dynamic community asset that tells the thrilling story of Cheyenne Frontier Days and how it relates to the story of Cheyenne, and how this event continues to be relevant and impact this community.
