About this experience

In my experience living in Hawai’i, I have found that the flavors from the food taste more intense and I think this is down to two factors — one being the island's sun and the other being the rich dark volcanic soil. I have always maintained that “less is more in life” and this is very true when you apply it to food. We will showcase a wide variety of tasty and ethnic foods from some of the most popular Food Trucks on the Northshore enjoy some of the world's best coffee and chocolate and hike to one of our most visited waterfalls on Oahu then treat yourself to some rum at Kohana Rum Distillery where they use natural sugar cane.

Detailed itinerary

1

We will take you to Waialua’s best-kept secret, home of the island’s best coffee and chocolate farm. Taste 100% cacao nibs all the way down to 38% chocolate along with flavored peanut butter coffee samples and much more.

2

Our second stop brings us to the Macadamia Nut farm where we can try many different flavors of Macadamia Nuts learn about the industry and see many local and hand made products for sale.

3

Waimea Falls, also known as Waihi Falls, is one of the more accessible falls on Oahu with an impressive 45-foot waterfall. Located within Waimea Valley, it is a unique Hawaiian botanical garden within a significant cultural and archaeological site. There is an optional shuttle service for the very young or elderly so they can also enjoy the falls. The ¾ mile hike is mostly flat and fully paved. A visit to Waimea Falls is very much a cultural experience if you take the time to relax and enjoy the surroundings or simply bathe in the falls and feel rejuvenated.

4

After working up an appetite our guide will take you to a collection of the island’s best food trucks and local eateries nestled in the historic surf and sugar plantation town in Haleiwa. Our guides will take the time to explain what each food truck or eatery is known for and their signature dish. Whether you are a fish, meat, vegetarian or vegan we have you covered. The food trucks we explore are known for the best butter garlic, spicy shrimp, ahi poke bowls, tacos, Thai flavors, kalbi beef, flatbreads, acai Bowls, and much more.

5

No food tour is complete without trying a little alcohol…So on our final stop, we will be showcasing one of the best rum distilleries in the world so you can learn how the native Hawaiian sugar cane is distilled into one of the finest agricole rums in the world. You will be comparing their white and aged rums side by side. Native Hawaiian sugarcane thrived 800 years before the plantations ever existed. Experience heirloom varieties again. Hand-harvested and pressed to juice. These heirloom canes are distilled to perfection. The result is one of the world’s finest pure cane rums.
