Padmanabhaswamy temple is located inside the East Fort. As per the Hindu Holy Text Bhagwat Gita, Balarama visited this temple. A fine blend of the Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture, the temple has many legends associated with major narratives being dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The holy place is also known for its mural paintings and stone carvings. One among the 108 sacred Vishnu shrines in India, the presiding deity here is Lord Vishnu reclining on Anantha, the serpent.

Sree Chitra Art Gallery is an art gallery in Thiruvananthapuram, India, established in 1935. It is located towards the northern side of the Napier Museum. It was inaugurated by Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma

In the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city lies the great Napier Museum and the Natural History Museum in the Museum compound, close to the Zoological park. Built in the 19th century, it has its own natural air-conditioning system. It contains a host of historical artefacts including bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot and ivory carvings. People are especially impressed by the Japanese shadow-play leather that is used to depict the epics of the Mahabharata and Ramayana.Kerala's rich cultural heritage is in full display here. The museum was named after the former Madras Governor General, John Napier. Also known as Government Art Museum, the architectural style of museum is a mix of Indian, Chinese, Kerala and Mughal Schools of Architecture. Closed on Mondays.

Kuthiramalika is a palace built by Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma on the south-eastern side of Padmanabhaswamy temple. Closed on Mondays.

The Attukal Bhagavathy Temple is a Hindu religious shrine at Attukal in Kerala, India. Goddess Bhadrakali, mounted over 'vethala', is the main deity in this temple. Bhadrakali, a form of Mahakali, who killed the demon king Daruka, believed to be born from the third eye of lord Shiva.
