The first stop is a Boutique winery. The winery produces high quality wines from its own organic vineyard, planted around the winery. The advantage of Madrid wineries is that the distances are closer. Just 30 Kms away from Madrid you feel transported several hundred kilometres way ahead, and several decades, if not centuries, way back. Madrid's Region's countryside, coated with vineyards and historical towns, that supplied wine for the capital since its very foundation (since its conquest by the Castilians from the Moors actually). About 19 miles (30km) away from the capital’s center, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Madrid's main winemaking area, Las Vegas de Madrid, known as Vinos de Madrid – a Spanish Denominación de origen (DO) territory. All wines produced here adhere to strict production guidelines so they have are able to proudly display the DO Madrid labels on their bottles – an indication of the region's high-quality wine.

Next, we arrive to another Madrid town where we will visit the second winery. The guide and the winemakers will instruct us about the wine process while we taste more wines. Madrid Denomination of Origin is not as well known as the others, but it is coming up as a region of great wines. 900 years of winemaking tradition at the fertile vegas region (riverbanks) where rivers Manzanares, Tajuña, Jarama, Henares, and Tajo meet. Or south of Guadarrama's Sierra's granite foothill. Environmentally protected territories that where the exclusive wine suppliers of the thirsty and growing new capital of the sixteenth century Spanish Empire.

Third stop: Bodegas Jesús Díaz e Hijos. One of the oldest wineries in Colmenar de Oreja and located on an old Franciscan convent. They have been making wine for over 100 years The production of their wines continues on large clay jars such as has been done in this area for centuries. We will also visit its wonderful centuries-old caves where the wines rest.
