The total Amalfi Coast experience is brought into focus from this picturesque tour. First stop, the most charming fishermen village of the Amalfi Coast: Positano. A cliff divides it in two, with the west side housing the beach area and the east side the town center. The drive continues down to Ravello, where we will stop for lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the coast. The town is located at the top of the Dragone Valley and truly seems as though it is a town and a garden at the same time.
Ravello owed its prosperity to extensive commerce throughout the Mediterranean and to its strong textile industry. Written about as early as the 14th Century in Bocaccio’s Decameron, Ravello possesses two famous architectural pearls known worldwide: the Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. These buildings perfectly represent the blend of Moorish and Venetian architectural style which is typical throughout the major centers found along the Amalfi Coast.
