Detailed itinerary

Stop 1 Pass by

Meet your guide and small group in San Telmo and make your way to the city center aboard a comfortable minivan. Start your tour at the place where Bergoglio lived with his parents and siblings during his first years of life. Visit formative educational institutions, such as the College of Our Lady of Mercy and Universidad del Salvador, a Jesuit university. See where the pope took his sacraments and received his religious vocation, including Basilica of San José de Flores, where he devoted his life to God when he was just 17 years old.

2

The first stop, would be his childhood house in the neighborhood of Flores where he lived with his parents and his siblings

3

Then, you will visit the schools he attended such as the Instituto Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia & Universidad del Salvador as well as the Iglesia del Salvador.

4

You will visit the church of his childhood and adolescence: The Basilica de San Jose de Flores. This was the Basilica where he received his "divine call" and began serving the Church. He said: "(at that exact moment) I immersed myself in God`s mercy". In this Church, Jorge Bergoglio decided to become a priest.

5

Afterwards, we will continue following Jorge Bergoglio’s journey by seeing the Basílica de María Auxiliadora y San Carlos where he was baptized.

Then, you will head to the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral, which overlooks Plaza de Mayo. Considered the main Catholic church in Buenos Aires, the 16th-century cathedral was rebuilt several times in a mix of architectural styles. It was here that the Argentinean people waited to hear the designation of the successor to Pope Benedicto XVI.

9

The main catholic temple of Argentina: The Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires. This important 16th century building, was declared a historical monument in 1942, is the Cathedral where the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Bergoglio, gave important Masses.
