We will meet in the center of Salento to begin our exciting trekking journey. We will board authentic Willys Jeeps that will take us to the amazing Cocora Valley, adding an exciting touch to our journey from the beginning of the day.
Upon arrival at the base of the Cocora Valley, our guide will give us a talk where we will learn more about the origin and importance of the majestic palms. We will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the history and cultural importance of this unique species. We will learn about the life cycle of the palm, its impact on local biodiversity and its status as an emblematic symbol of Colombia. This information will not only enrich our knowledge about the Wax Palm, but will also inspire us to appreciate even more the beauty that awaits us in the Cocora Valley.
We will begin our hike through the Cocora Valley, exploring the fascinating trails that wind through the tall wax palms. The trail will take us through varied terrain, from gentle hills to more challenging sectors, adapting to different levels of ability. As we advance, the lush vegetation of the Cocora Valley unfolds, revealing the diversity of the local flora.
Birdwatchers will find these trails a paradise, as diverse species dance in the sky and among the branches. Each step in this natural labyrinth is an opportunity to absorb the essence of the Cocora Valley. We will have time to connect with nature or simply capture great selfies with the wax palms.
After three hours of hiking and free time in the valley, we will descend from the Cocora to relax and recharge our batteries with a delicious typical lunch, while we share the best anecdotes of our tour. We return to Salento in the Jeep Willys, taking the opportunity to enjoy the last views of the Cocora Valley.
