Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

We begin our journey in the morning (5am) at Karunamoyee Metro Station.
Before leaving Kolkata behind, we pause to enjoy a cup of local cutting chai—a small but unforgettable ritual that introduces you to everyday Bengal.
From here, we set off on a three-hour scenic drive through rural West Bengal. As the city fades, the landscape opens into villages, farmlands, rivers, roadside tea stalls, and scenes of local life that most travellers never witness. This drive is not just a transfer—it’s the first experience, offering a real sense of how Bengal lives and breathes beyond the city.
The journey gradually leads us to Godkhali Ferry Ghat, the official gateway to the Sundarbans. By the time we arrive, the noise of the city feels far away, replaced by open skies, water channels, and the anticipation of entering one of the world’s most unique wilderness regions.
This slow, immersive beginning sets the perfect tone for the adventure ahead—calm, authentic, and deeply memorable.

2

By 8:30 AM, we arrive at Godkhali, the gateway to the Sundarbans. Here, the pace slows as we refresh ourselves with fresh coconut water, a simple and authentic local welcome before entering the wilderness.
Soon after, we step aboard a traditional houseboat, our base for the day. Before the safari begins, you’ll receive a clear safety briefing—what to do and what not to do inside the jungle—so you feel confident and relaxed throughout the experience.
Accompanied by a government-certified naturalist and wildlife expert, the jungle safari begins by boat, taking us deep into the core areas of the Sundarbans. Moving quietly through mangrove-lined waterways, you’ll learn how this unique ecosystem supports wildlife, including the legendary Royal Bengal Tiger.
This part of the journey combines adventure with reassurance—exploring one of the world’s wildest landscapes safely, responsibly, and with expert guidance, allowing you to fully enjoy the thrill of the jungle without worry.

3

The heart of the experience is an 8-hour boat safari deep inside the Sundarbans, where the jungle reveals itself slowly and beautifully. Guided by a professional naturalist, you learn how this unique mangrove ecosystem functions and how it supports the Royal Bengal Tiger, the world’s largest and most powerful wild cat.
As the boat moves through narrow creeks and wide rivers, keep watch for spotted deer, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and an incredible variety of birdlife. Every turn of the river carries excitement, knowing you are traveling through real tiger territory.
Life onboard is just as special. Guests are served breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks, along with tea, coffee, cola, soda, and local fritters throughout the journey. Food is freshly cooked on the boat and may include regional fish, or chicken or mutton based on preference, followed by famous Kolkata sweets. Dining on a moving boat, surrounded by mangroves and silence, makes this experience truly unforgettable. Enjoy!

4

By around 4:30-5:00 PM, the boat gently returns to Godkhali Ferry Ghat, bringing the jungle journey to a calm and thoughtful close. As we step off the houseboat, there’s time to reflect on the day—quiet waterways, wildlife moments, shared meals, and the rare feeling of being deep inside one of the world’s last great wildernesses.
From Godkhali, we begin our road journey back, relaxing in the vehicle as rural Bengal slowly passes by once more. As daylight fades, conversations soften and memories settle in, making the return as peaceful as the adventure itself.
We arrive at the final drop-off point at Karunamoyee Metro Station by around 8:00 PM. Before parting, guests receive small local souvenirs as a reminder of their Sundarbans experience. You don’t just return with photos—you return with stories, flavors, and memories that stay with you long after the journey ends.
