Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

We will pick you up at your hotel or house, with our vehicle ready for your experience, 5 minutes before starting the tour. From that moment the adventure begins: the warmth of Oaxaca accompanies you as we head to discover three cultural treasures. Imagine entering a family home where the wooden loom resonates like a beating heart.

You see how the wool is transformed with natural dyes: the cochineal turns deep red, the indigo turns deep blue. Craftsmen show you Zapotec symbols that narrate mountains, suns and roads.

You sit next to them, listen to their stories and feel that each mat holds a piece of Oaxaca.

In the end, you can directly acquire these unique pieces, supporting the family and taking an authentic memory that will light up your home.

2
Stop 2

After the first visit, we headed to a family home where time seems to stand still. You will learn how chocolate is made as in ancient times. The aroma of roasted cocoa envelops you from the first moment, waking your palate and preparing your senses for a unique experience.
You’ll learn about pre-Hispanic cooking tools, such as stone metate, and see cocoa grind and mix with spices that have accompanied rituals and celebrations for centuries. You will participate in the demonstration, feeling the texture and warmth of a process that connects directly to the history of Oaxaca.
The experience culminates with a tasting of traditional chocolate and homemade mole, intense flavors that caress the palate and transmit the cultural richness of the region. And if you fall in love with these flavors, you will have the opportunity to directly buy chocolate and mole prepared by the host family, taking a piece of Oaxaca to share at home.

3
Stop 3

To enter this gallery is to feel that art breathes and envelops you. The teacher welcomes you with a warm smile and invites you to tour his creative space, where every wall and every corner keep stories. In front of you, the colors vibrate on the canvases, the shapes come alive in the sculptures, as if the earth and memory of Oaxaca were transformed into art.
As you converse with him, you discover the symbols that inspire his works: nature, traditions and the strength of the Zapotec identity. The energy of the place envelops you, making you feel part of that creative process.
In the end, you have the opportunity to directly acquire an original work. It's not just a purchase: it's taking a living memory, a fragment of Oaxaca that connects to your home, your heart. Each piece you choose is unique, and with it you support local talent, you become part of its history.

4
Stop 4

Step into a family workshop in Teotitlan del Valle and discover the ancestral art of candle making. Local artisans welcome you into their home, where wax is patiently melted, shaped, and decorated by hand. Each candle is more than light—it is a symbol of devotion, tradition, and creativity.
During the demonstration, you will see how natural materials are transformed into intricate designs used in local festivities and religious ceremonies. The artisan explains each step, from preparing the wax to sculpting delicate flowers and figures that adorn the candles.
It is an intimate encounter with living heritage. You will feel the warmth of Oaxaca’s traditions, admire the patience and artistry behind every detail, and have the chance to support the family by acquiring a unique handmade piece.
