Guests are picked up from their hotels in San Ignacio. Your licensed local guide gives an introduction to the day’s adventure as you travel west through the scenic villages of Georgeville or San Antonio, climbing into the cool pine forest of the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve.
Your first stop is the massive Rio Frio Cave, famous for its cathedral-like entrance and natural skylights. Walk through the ancient limestone passage, admire stalactites, and learn how the Maya once used this cavern for ceremonial purposes.
Continue deep into the reserve to explore Caracol, Belize’s largest Maya city. Discover the towering Caana Temple, plazas, and stelae as your guide shares stories of ancient kings and cosmic rituals. Enjoy time to climb the main pyramid for panoramic jungle views stretching into Guatemala. At the end, Savor a hearty Belizean picnic lunch in a shaded area surrounded by nature.
