The Matacanes Canyon is considered the most epic canyoning experience in Mexico: 20 km of tour with more than 25 jumps to turquoise pools, natural rock slides, swimming in caves and underground rivers, and two abseiling descents by waterfalls (27 m and 18 m). A perfect combination of adrenaline, nature and local culture in the Sierra de Santiago.

Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

At the Hotel Cola de Caballo you will meet your guides and board a 4x4 vehicle to Potrero Redondo.

Upon arrival, the guides will give you the complete equipment (wetsuit, harness, helmet and life jacket) and help you place it to start the experience in complete safety.

From there, we will start a hike of about 1 1/2 hours through the mountain until we reach the entrance of the canyon. From that point begins the real excitement: you will live more than 25 jumps into crystal clear water pools (1 to 12 meters, many optional), slide on natural rock slides, swim in caves and underground rivers turquoise, and descend by two spectacular abseiling waterfalls (27 m and 18 m).

Parking is available within the ponytail hotel. When you enter you will see a roundabout, there will be waiting for the staff along with the 4x4 vehicles that will transport you at the start of the tour
