Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Kaymaklı Underground City, located in the Kaymaklı district of Nevşehir, is one of the largest underground cities in Cappadocia. Dating back to the 8th century BC, this multi-story structure was first carved by the Phrygians and expanded during the Byzantine period, serving as both defense and shelter. Offering a fully equipped settlement with ventilation shafts, stables, food depots, churches, and living quarters, Kaymaklı extends 20 meters below ground and has eight floors (four of which are open to visitors). This impressive structure, capable of hosting thousands of people simultaneously, is one of the finest examples of Cappadocia's subterranean architecture.

2
Stop 2

Pigeon Valley, stretching between Uçhisar and Göreme, is one of Cappadocia's most impressive valleys. It takes its name from the pigeon nests carved into the rocks on the slopes. For centuries, the locals have preserved these nests and used the pigeon droppings in agriculture, using them for viticulture. Its natural beauty, hiking trails, and panoramic views from Uçhisar Castle make it a popular destination for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike. Throughout the valley, visitors are captivated by Cappadocia's unique fairy chimneys, rock carvings, and a mystical atmosphere intertwined with the history of pigeons.

3
Stop 3

Uçhisar Castle, a historic structure located at the highest point in Cappadocia and commanding attention with its commanding view of the region, is reminiscent of a giant fairy chimney. With hundreds of windows, niches, and tunnels, this natural castle resembles an anthill. Even from the outside, its impressive architecture reveals the region's historical and natural richness.

4
Stop 4

Paşabağları is a valley located between Avanos and Zelve in Cappadocia, home to some of Cappadocia's most characteristic fairy chimneys. Also known as the "Valley of the Monks," this region is particularly famous for its capped and multi-headed fairy chimneys. Used by monks in seclusion during the early Christian era, these structures are notable for both their natural beauty and historical heritage. Paşabağları contains some of the most magnificent examples of the fairy chimneys that have become a symbol of Cappadocia and serves as an open-air museum.

5
Stop 5

Zelve Open Air Museum is one of Cappadocia's oldest and most mysterious settlements. This region, comprised of three valleys, is notable for its natural fairy chimneys and rock-cut churches, houses, and living spaces. Intensely used during the early Christian era, Zelve is also one of the longest-inhabited areas in Cappadocia. Today, Zelve, an open-air museum, offers visitors a captivating atmosphere with both its historical and natural riches.

6

Avanos, shaped by the fertile mud of the Kızılırmak River, is known as the handicrafts center of Cappadocia. Pottery-making is a tradition dating back thousands of years in the region, dating back to the Hittite period. Today, masters continue to make pottery using traditional methods at the wheel in many workshops, offering visitors the opportunity to both observe and experiment. With this unique culture that combines art and craft, Avanos is an essential part of the Cappadocian experience.

7
Stop 7

Devrent Valley is one of Cappadocia's most intriguing valleys, also known as "Imagination Valley." Natural erosion has shaped the fairy chimneys in the region into shapes resembling animals and humans. The valley, particularly famous for its camel-like rock formations, captivates visitors' imaginations. While the region lacks any historical settlements or carved structures, its rocks, reminiscent of natural sculptures, make it a unique destination for photography enthusiasts and nature hikers.
