Rose Hall Great House is a striking 18th-century Georgian mansion overlooking the coast near Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Perched on a hill, its white stone base and plastered upper story give it a commanding view of the Caribbean Sea.
Built in the 1770s at considerable expense, the house was originally part of a large sugar plantation.
After years of neglect, it was restored in the 1960s and converted into a museum.
One of its most famous aspects is the legend of Annie “The White Witch” Palmer, who is said to have haunted Rose Hall—rumoured to have practiced dark magic and committed murders. While many stories are more folklore than documented history, they give the house a spooky, romantic aura that draws a lot of visitors.
