This is a place to pass on to future generations the war experiences of the female students (Himeyuri Student Corps) who were mobilized as nurses during the Battle of Okinawa. The museum displays photographs of the student corps, video testimonies from survivors, and a model of a gama (cave) that recreates the reality of war.

It is considered the most sacred place in the Ryukyu Kingdom and is said to have been created by Amamikiyo, the Ryukyuan creator god. It is also registered as a World Heritage Site, and there are no artificial structures here, with the natural rocks and trees worshipped as a place where gods reside.
