Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

It is a city where you will enjoy learning about its history as you visit it, where the Temple of Artemis, one of the 7 wonders of the world, has been carefully preserved until today and which was the largest port city in history for many years.

2
Stop 2

The House of the Virgin Mary is located on Mount Bülbül, 9 km from Selçuk. It is known that four or six years after Jesus' death, St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus. In 1891, Lazarist priests, following a dream by German nun A. Katherine Emmerick, discovered that the house was where the Virgin Mary spent her final days. This discovery was a brand new discovery in the Christian world and shed light on the religious world. This cruciform, domed structure was later restored. Considered sacred by Muslims, the house has hosted masses held annually on August 15th since Pope Paul VI's visit in 1967, and these masses are highly popular.

3
Stop 3

The Temple of Artemis (Greek: Artemision; Latin: Artemisium), also known as the Temple of Diana, was dedicated to the goddess Artemis and was completed in Ephesus around 550 BC. The temple was constructed entirely of marble. Considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, only a few marble fragments remain today.

4
Stop 4

A charming hillside, village known for is tradition architecture, vineyards handcraft. Take a leisurely stroll throught the narrow cobblestone streets, lined with whitewashed houses and boutique shops.

5

The oldest houses that can be visited today date from the reign of Emperor Augustus. During the Roman Imperial period, houses had rather plain exteriors but ornate interiors. They were built in the tradition of peristyle house architecture (a rectangular, open courtyard surrounded by columned corridors in ancient architecture) and had windows. A central courtyard surrounded the living quarters. Some of the houses were two or three stories high. The lower floors were dedicated to living rooms, parlors, and kitchens, while the upper floors were reserved for bedrooms. Fountains were a common feature in all houses. The houses had a heating system similar to a Turkish bath. The central section of the system served as a bathroom, while pipes were used to heat the other sections of the house. This system connected hot and cold water to fountains in front of the dining room, kitchen, and latrine (toilet). Below the perforated seating blocks was a system connected to the main sewer system.
