Detailed itinerary

1

During the tour, we will first visit the Antonio Nariño Museum.

What makes the Antonio Nariño Museum special?

1. Birthplace of a national hero

Antonio Nariño (1765–1823), a key figure in the Colombian struggle for independence and translator of the Declaration of Human Rights, was born here.

The museum is often housed in his original birthplace or a historic building at that location.

2. Personal objects & documents

You will often find original letters, diaries, publications, and perhaps clothing or furniture related to his life and work.

3. Colonial architecture & atmosphere

Villa de Leyva is a colonial-style city, and such museums offer not only rich historical information but also a glimpse into daily life during that period.

4. Educational exhibitions

Interactive or informative panels are often offered about Nariño's role in independence and his political influence.

2

We are going touring its interior and acquiring knowledge about why it's recognized fame in Colombia.

3

When visiting the Museum of Palaeontology of the Faculty of Science at the National University guests may see proof that the area around the Villa de Leyva used to be underwater.

Fossils of prehistoric animals such as the plesiosaurus, the icthiosaurus and the cronosaurus which lived in this area 13 to 65 million years ago are on display.

There are also remains of ammonites and bivalves, among others.

4

You can enjoy various colonial-type photographs during the walking tour.

Between each place of interest to visit we can make technical stops to resume.

The walking tour will end in a cozy Coffee shop for the tasting of Colombian specialty coffee and a delicious traditional dessert.
