Welcome in Le Havre
Your tour begins with an easy and stress-free pickup right at the cruise port or your hotel in Le Havre. A friendly, English-speaking guide will greet you and help you board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus. As you begin the scenic drive through Normandy, your guide will explain the area’s important role in World War II and what to expect throughout the day.
German Cemetery
Your first stop is the German War Cemetery. This peaceful site honors thousands of German soldiers who died during the conflict. It's a quiet place surrounded by nature, and your guide will help you understand how this cemetery fits into the wider story of D-Day and the history of the region.
Pointe du Hoc
Next, you’ll visit Pointe du Hoc, a dramatic clifftop location between Utah and Omaha Beaches. During D-Day, U.S. Rangers bravely climbed these steep cliffs under enemy fire. Today, the site is filled with large craters and broken bunkers that remain just as they were left. Your guide will explain what happened here, making it easy to imagine the bravery and difficulty of that moment.
Omaha Beach & Lunch
Then you’ll head to Omaha Beach—one of the most famous landing spots on D-Day. Known as “Bloody Omaha,” it saw intense fighting during the invasion. The beach is now peaceful, but walking along the sand brings history to life.
At this point, you’ll receive a simple and tasty packed lunch, including a fresh baguette sandwich, dessert, and bottled water—all thoughtfully prepared by your tour team.
American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer
After lunch, you’ll visit the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. This is the final resting place for over 9,000 U.S. soldiers. You’ll see rows of white crosses and Stars of David stretching out over the green hills above the beach. A visit to the Memorial Chapel provides a quiet space for reflection and gratitude. Your guide will be nearby to answer questions or share stories that help you understand what makes this place so special.
Drive Back to Le Havre
At the end of the tour, you’ll return to your bus for a relaxing drive back to Le Havre. As you look out at the Normandy countryside, take time to reflect on the experiences of the day. From the powerful sights to the heartfelt stories, this journey is a thoughtful and meaningful way to learn about one of the most important chapters in history. You’ll arrive back at port on time, with everything taken care of.
When you step off your cruise ship, head outside the cruise terminal. Our hosts wait outside the security gates with a sign VEXPERIO. Please note: we do NOT meet at the parking lot directly next to the cruise ships. Please head outside the security gate - it is about a 3-minute walk, 1000ft / 300m.
