Santos Dumont Airport sits right on Guanabara Bay, with runways stretching over the water. It’s known for its dramatic landings and takeoffs framed by Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer.

As the boat passes by, you’ll see the 17-meter-tall Christ the Redeemer of São José do Rio Pardo, standing high on Morro do Cristo since 1949. The statue was brought here from Campinas and symbolizes the 17 letters in the city’s name. From the river, it creates a striking backdrop overlooking the town and valley.
