This tour is between 7 and 8 hours long. The wineries are about a 1 hour drive from Houston. During this hour of commute, we will see the terrain geography change. We will leave the urban cement and buildings for rolling meadows, horses and cows grazing, and small country homes, farms, and barns. You may also see more pine trees than in Houston. We will pass by small villages and towns.
You will have 4 tastings, sit and relax inside or on the outside on the deck. If the winery is not too busy, you can have a tour of the processing plant with an explanation of the steps to make wine. The wine at Wildflyer is made from mead; that is honey. All the wines are sweet as they are honey mixed with various fruits such as grapes, peaches, pears, apples, and so on. The winery also has a cute giftshop. You can also see the vineyards in the background.
We stop at Joe's for lunch between the 2 wineries. It is a small local mom and pop Italian restaurant with good food and reasonable prices.
You will have 5 tastings at Threshold Vineyards. Once again, you can sit inside or outside. Threshold Vineyards occasionally has live music for you to listen and enjoy. It also has vineyards that you can go outside and stroll through.
We meet inside the rotunda of the Houston City Hall at 901 Bagby Street, Houston, Texas 77002 on Monday through Friday. City Hall is closed on weekends. On weekends, we meet at a park bench on the east side of City Hall.
