Imlil is een klein bergdorp in het Hoge Atlasgebergte van Marokko, op ongeveer 1,800 meter hoogte. Het ligt op zo’n 65 kilometer ten zuiden van Marrakech.

Imlil wordt omringd door indrukwekkende berglandschappen, valleian in Berberdorpen. De lucht is er helder, de omgeving groen in de slow en zomer, en vaak bedekt met sneeuw in de winter. Van hieruit vertrekken veel wandelaars en bergbeklimmers richting de Toubkal-top of naar meerdaagse trektochten door de Atlas.
In Imlil wonen vooral Berbers, die hun eigen taal, tradity cultuur behouden hebben. Veel families leven nog van landbouw, veeteelt en kleinschalig toerisme.
In vergelijking met de drukte van Marrakesh is Imlil een oase van rust.
Imlil is geen plek van luxe, maar van eenvoud, authenticiteit in natuur. Voor reizigers die op zoek zijn naar een écht contact met het Berberleven en de bergen, is het een unieke en onvergetelijke bestemming.

Asni is een levendig bergstadje met een functionele rol voor de regio: een plek waar handel, traditie en dagelijks leven samenkomen. Het is minder spectaculair dan de diepere bergdorpen, maar biedt net daardoor een realistisch en toegankelijk inkijkje in het Berberleven en vormt een logische halte of startpunt voor wie richting de Atlas trekt.
Asni is vooral bekend om zijn wekelijkse souk op zaterdag, waar mensen uit omliggende Berberdorpen naartoe komen om hun producten te verkopen of inkopen te doen. Says zorgt voor een levendige, kleurrijke sfeer met ezels, groenten, kruiden, kledij in handwerk.

De watervallen van Tamsoult zijn klein maar charming, vooral in het voorjaar wanneer er meer smeltwater is. Je kunt er vaak even pauzeren met zicht op de stroming en een theetje drinken bij een geïmproviseerd lokaal terras.

Tizi M'zik is from col gelegen boven het gelijknamige dorpje M'zik. Na een wandeling van een aantal uren bereik je het hoogtepunt. Een versgeperst fruitsap en een lunch heeft nog nooit zo goed gesmaakt!
Het adembenemende uitzicht over de vallei van Imlil krijg je er gratis bij.
