Detailed itinerary

1

At the Obelisk Macho, travelers will discover one of Santo Domingo’s most iconic monuments, located right in front of the Caribbean Sea. Although it was originally built in honor of dictator Rafael Trujillo, today it is intervened with images of the Mirabal Sisters and other symbols of freedom.

During the stop, we will talk about its history, its symbolic transformation and what it currently represents for the Dominican people. You can also enjoy the sea breeze and take memorable photos in this iconic spot of the city.

2

A silent tribute to an act of bravery.
This monument honors the men who, in 1959, came from exile to liberate the country from the Trujillo regime. Although his attempt was unsuccessful in the military, his action ignited the spark of change.

3

The Malecón de Santo Domingo is one of the most emblematic places to enjoy the view of the Caribbean Sea. Along this coastal avenue you can breathe sea breezes, see monuments, sculptures and murals, and appreciate the city from an open and relaxing angle.

It is a perfect stop for taking pictures, walking a bit, and connecting with the rhythm of the city by the sea.

4

At the Monument to the Heroes of May 30, travelers will visit the exact place where dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo was executed in 1961. This memorial honors the men who participated in this act of bravery, many of whom were later persecuted and killed.

5

The Plaza de la Cultura is the cultural heart of Santo Domingo. This spacious space brings together some of the most important museums and buildings in the country, such as the Dominican Man Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the National Theatre and the National Library.

On our tour, we take you inside the complex to explain what each building represents and how this place concentrates history, science, art and national pride. If time permits and you are interested, we can enter one of the museums.

6

A purposeful break.
Parque Iberoamerica is a perfect stop on the tour to relax among monuments and museums. It used to be a zoo, but today it's a green lung in the middle of the city.

During the stop I will tell you why this park was transformed, what its name represents and how music, education, art and daily life coexist here.

7
Stop 7 Pass by

The house of power.
The National Palace is the seat of the Executive Branch of the Dominican Republic. Its neoclassical architecture, inspired by European palaces, makes it one of the most imposing buildings in the country.

During the stop, I will tell you when it was built, what its design represents, and why, although it cannot be entered, it is one of the most photographed points of the city.
