Owakudani, where you can witness volcanic activity up close, is one of Hakone’s most dramatic landscapes. The ropeway ride offers breathtaking views of a valley filled with steam and sulfurous smoke — a place once known as "Hell Valley."

Upon arrival, don't miss the famous black boiled eggs, cooked using the valley’s geothermal heat and volcanic gases. Their unique black shells are the result of a natural chemical reaction, and eating one is said to add seven years to your life! You can also explore the nearby museum .

A brand-new highlight is the “Valley of the Earth” (Chikyuu no Tani) — a scenic area featuring three new viewing decks. Among them, the Ibuki Deck is a must-see. This daring glass platform stands 8 meters high and stretches 11 meters out over the valley, letting you look straight down at the smoking vents and the ropeway passing below.
