The tour begins at the 1st bus station in Dolna Matka, from where we’ll head along the main road to Gorna Matka. On the way, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The asphalt road ends at the Matka Farm, which doubles as a camping area. From here, the adventure really begins as we embark on a thrilling off-road journey. This easy trail offers panoramic views, perfect for stopping and soaking in the scenery. Don’t forget your hats and sunscreen – we’ll make plenty of stops along the way to take in the incredible views.
We’ll arrive at a stunning spot shaded by ancient trees. The yard of the Sv. Spas Church holds three other churches, marking the area as the historical heart of Matka. The church itself is located on the grounds where the first village from the 14th century was founded. The area is rich in history, nestled in the rocks and offering an excellent place for a picnic or relaxation.
Upon reaching Gorna Matka, you’ll get to see the charming old village with its traditional houses. The village’s authentic architecture and rustic charm make it a great spot for photos.
