The tour will take participants on a walking tour of several restaurants in Azabu Juban, a traditional city since the Edo period, which is in the center of Tokyo but still retains a downtown atmosphere. During the tour, we will visit an average of four restaurants, including croquettes, bread, Imagawa-yaki, rice crackers, and bean confectionaries. A local guide will explain about the history of this land and the Japanese philosophy of Shinto.
The Roppongi district of Minato Ward in the metropolis of Tokyo was lost during World War II. What kind of district was Roppongi before the war, what kind of history is buried there, and how was it developed to its present form? We will walk around and take photos while listening to explanations of the historical background and important people associated with the area.
In contrast to the Roppongi district, Azabu Juban, a downtown area in the heart of the city located about a 20-minute walk from Roppongi Hills, was a district where common people lived in the Edo period.
