Tuna fishing is a real challenge and one of the most thrilling types of sea fishing in Cyprus. Starting in early July, large schools of albacore tuna move into the coastal waters near Limassol, actively hunting flying fish and small squid. This is the perfect time for trolling — a technique where lures are dragged behind a moving boat.
When a tuna strikes, it’s unforgettable. A powerful hit, a sudden pull, and an intense fight begins. These fish can weigh 20–30 kg, and reeling one in requires strength, patience, and skill. But that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding — to feel the raw power of the ocean on the other end of the line.
After a successful catch, the fish can be cleaned and prepared right on board — tuna can be served as sashimi, smoked, or grilled. Or you can take it home as both a delicious treat and a proud reminder of your ocean adventure.
