The Republic of Cospaia (Republica de' Cošpäja in Alto Tiberino Umbrian) was an independent microstate that existed from 1441 to 1826 due to an error in the tracing of the borders between the Papal States and the Republic of Florence (later the Grand Duchy of Tuscany)[2]. Today Cospaia is a hamlet of the municipality of San Giustino, in the province of Perugia.
