Founded by the Bourbons in the 18th century, this village is known for its tradition in silk production and for being the first self-sustainable settlement in Europe. The history of San Leucio begins in 1778, when King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon decided to create a center for silk production, inspired by the processing techniques learned during his travels in France. The idea was to develop a silk industry that could not only provide jobs for local peasants, but also contribute to the economy of the kingdom. The village was designed as a model community, where workers could live and work in dignified conditions. Today, the Borgo di San Leucio is a fascinating tourist destination Visitors can visit the Silk Museum and the city.

They will start with a guided tour of the stables, where they will get to know the buffaloes, affectionate animals and fundamental for the production of mozzarella.
