Ephesus is one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world, offering a truly immersive journey into ancient history.
Highlights of the city include:
The Odeon, where musical performances once captivated Roman audiences
The Temple of Domitian, one of the earliest temples dedicated to a Roman emperor
The magnificent Library of Celsus, the third largest library of the ancient world
The Great Amphitheatre, seating up to 24,000 people, where St. Paul once preached
Well-preserved Roman Baths, fountains, temples, agora, and even public toilets
The intriguing Love House, offering a glimpse into daily life in ancient times
Ephesus is not just a historical site — it’s a walk through the vibrant life of an ancient civilization.
The House of the Virgin Mary is a sacred pilgrimage site for Christians, believed to be the place where the Virgin Mary spent her final years and passed away.
The site gained international recognition after Pope Paul VI visited in 1967, offering his unofficial confirmation of its authenticity. Later, Pope John Paul II visited in 1979, followed by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006.
Each of them left gifts and tokens of respect, many of which are still on display at the shrine today.
Once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis was a magnificent structure dedicated to the goddess of the hunt and fertility. Though only a few columns remain today, its legacy as one of antiquity’s greatest architectural achievements continues to captivate visitors from around the world.
