Established in 1863 during Central Otago’s gold rush, the Cardrona Hotel originally served weary miners and travelers and is now one of only two surviving buildings from the historic settlement, widely photographed and beloved by both locals and visitors—known to host everyone from farmers to helicopter-drop-in groups or even royalty

The Cardrona Bra Fence—also playfully called “Bradrona”—is a quirky and celebrated roadside attraction in Central Otago, about halfway between Queenstown and Wānaka.
