The Lower Spiral Tunnels Viewpoint is a fantastic spot in Yoho National Park, located in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia. It's known for its panoramic views of the famous Spiral Tunnels, which are part of the Canadian Pacific Railway’s engineering marvels. The Spiral Tunnels were built to help trains navigate the steep terrain of the Kicking Horse Pass without having to deal with excessive grades, which would otherwise be too dangerous for trains to climb.
From the viewpoint, you can get a great view of the tunnels as trains spiral through the mountainside, disappearing and reappearing in the curves of the tunnels. It’s a neat sight because, even though you’re looking down at it from above, it’s hard to believe that a train could make such a tricky route through the mountain.
Takakkaw Falls is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Canada, located in Yoho National Park, which is in British Columbia’s Canadian Rockies. The falls have a total height of 373 meters (1,224 feet), making them one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. The name "Takakkaw" comes from a Cree word meaning "it is magnificent," which is pretty fitting for such an awe-inspiring sight.
The waterfall is fed by the Daly Glacier, and the water cascades down in two main stages, creating a dramatic visual effect. The area around the falls is accessible by a short hike, which makes it a popular spot for both photographers and nature lovers. In the summer, the falls are especially impressive when the snowmelt is at its peak.
