This unforgettable excursion will immerse you in the atmosphere of antiquity and the warm sunshine. We will introduce you to unique monuments of history and architecture, as well as give you the opportunity to enjoy the pristine beauty of the Sicilian landscapes. The professionalism of the guide and driver will also brighten up your vacation on this day.
On the way back to Palermo, we will pass by a small village called Dattilo. There you will try something that is absolutely special and unique. We are talking about Sicilian Cannolo. The pastry shop is one of the most famous in Sicily. Cannoli at that bakery are artisanal and made according to the family recipe that is transmitted from one generation to the other. CANNOLO AND A CUP OF COFFEE ARE OFFERED BY OUR COMPANY.
The excursion starts at 8:00 am from Palermo towards Trapani. Around 9:15 we arrive in Segesta and begin our visit to the archaeological park of Segesta. This was an ancient Elymian city (Elymians were an ethnicity of Sicily who lived between the IX and VIII centuries BC). This archaeological site is among the best preserved in all of Sicily. You can admire the Doric temple (it was built in the V century BC) and the theater. The last one was built at the end of the III century BC and is still in use for historical and cultural events and exhibitions.
Around 12 o'clock we leave for Mountain San Giuliano where 750 meters above sea level stands Erice, a medieval village. This is another town formed by the Elymians. In Erice you can savor its unique atmosphere by walking along its medieval streets and visiting famous places such as Porta Trapani, church of San Giuliano, Piazza della Logia, the Castle of Venus.
Departure from Erice for the Trapani Salt Pans at 3:30 pm with arrival at 4:30 pm. Visit to the "Saline di Trapani" nature reserve, a marine oasis artfully designed for the extraction of salt. One of the most evocative spectacles of the panorama of Trapani salt pans is to admire the pink flamingos on the salty waters of the tanks. Recommended spot for the flamingos and the windmills.
Around 5:15 pm we leave for Palermo. On the highway, exit Dattilo, where you can taste the best Sicilian cannoli. This Sicilian dessert with coffee will be offered by our company. Continue to Palermo. Arrival in Palermo. End of the excursion.
"Al 59" is a pizzeria next to the Theater Massimo. If you are standing in front of the theater, the pizzeria will be on your right.
Ticket to Segesta will be given directly at the entrance.
