Detailed itinerary

1

Once one of the first railway lines in the Dominican Republic, it played a central role in the economic development of the region. Built in the 19th century, it connected Puerto Plata with Santiago and allowed the transport of agricultural products, especially sugar, coffee and tobacco, to the port. The railway line contributed significantly to the growth of trade and made Puerto Plata an important commercial center. Today, unfortunately, only a historic locomotive is evidence of the former importance of the railway.

2

The Fortaleza de San Felipe is a historic fortress at the entrance to the port and edge of the old town. Built in the 16th century by the Spanish, it served as protection against pirate attacks. Today the fortress offers a fascinating insight into the colonial past of the island

3

The "Malecón", in German: Waterfront is one of the largest and most important streets in the city. It stretches along the coast and offers great views of the Atlantic Ocean. The promenade is lined with palm trees, restaurants and bars, making it a popular place for walks, sportsmen or sea breeze lovers.

Ice cream parlors are everywhere in the world, Helados Bon differs with the Dominican way of preparing. Frozen fruit mixed into ice cream, different but extremely delicious. Regularly by Mr.Enjoyed Puerto Plata personally, tasting is absolute must.

7

The city centre is the historical and cultural heart of the city. Surrounded by colonial architecture, including the City Hall and the Cathedral of San Felipe, the park serves as a central meeting place in the evening and especially on weekends. The white Victorian-style pavilion, one of the city's landmarks, is particularly distinctive.

8

The Cathedral of San Felipe impresses with its striking neoclassical facade and the two symmetrical towers. Originally built in the 16th century, the cathedral has been repeatedly restored after several earthquakes. Inside, they expect ornate stained glass windows and a quiet, spiritual ambience. The cathedral is also a symbol of Catholic influence in Puerto Plata.

9

Souvenirs must not be missing on every trip. Browse in peace for the right souvenir for family, friends & acquaintances.

10

With its pink painted buildings and bright floor, it immediately catches the eye. Built in honor of Doña Blanca Ernestina Frías, the wife of a well-known local businessman, the Paseo is the city's most popular photo subject due to its bright color and charming floral decor.

The colorful umbrellas hanging above the street not only provide shelter from the sun, but also give the area a playful, modern charm. A picturesque backdrop for photos & snapshots. The numerous shops and cafes make it a popular meeting place for tourists.

The highlight for chocolate fans and gourmets. This charming manufactory offers handmade chocolate products made from local cocoa beans.
