* Countries like Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan.
* Must carry an official Japanese translation of your driver’s license (provided by JAF or the embassy).

3. U.S. Military Based in Japan:
* Requires a SOFA License and Military I.D.

4. Japanese Driver’s License:
* For residents who convert their foreign license or take the driving test in Japan.

Important Notes:
* Visitors from countries not part of the 1949 IDP agreement (e.g., China, Vietnam, Mexico, Indonesia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and many more...) are not eligible to drive unless they acquire a Japanese driver's license.
* Always carry the required documents while driving + PASSPORT.
