A One-of-a-Kind Northern Lights Adventure in Finnish Lapland
Join us on a magical journey to witness the Northern Lights in locations unreachable by car.
Our train is filled with Christmas spirit, and every detail of the trip is designed with families in mind.
With a little luck, you may catch a glimpse of the Aurora dancing across the night sky. And who knows—perhaps even Santa himself will make a surprise appearance along the way!
Your journey begins at Rovaniemi Railway Station, where your Rovaniemi Insider guide will welcome you and escort you to the train.
From there, you’ll set off on a scenic ride through the enchanting forest landscapes of Lapland.
You’ll travel for about 1.5 hours aboard our Aurora Train to Kemijärvi, the northernmost city in Finland.
Along the way, you and your family can relax and enjoy the festive Christmas spirit while taking in the beautiful Finnish nature and landscapes.
When we arrive in Kemijärvi, you’ll have the chance to step off the train and admire the snowy landscapes and frozen lake views of Finland’s northernmost city.
To make the moment even more special, you’ll be served traditional Finnish Christmas beverages and snacks.
The Aurora Train then continues to Misi, a perfect location for Northern Lights hunting. Here, you’ll experience the winter night sky with absolutely no light pollution—pure Lapland magic.
If luck is on your side, the Northern Lights may appear. Our train driver will keep watch on the sky throughout the journey and stop the train whenever the Auroras are spotted, giving you the best chance to witness this unforgettable phenomenon.
As you head into the final stretch of your Aurora Train journey, you can continue to enjoy the cozy, authentic atmosphere onboard while keeping an eye on the night sky for the Northern Lights.
Your unforgettable journey concludes back at Rovaniemi Railway Station, leaving you with magical memories of Lapland’s winter wonderland.
You will recognize the meeting point with "Insider visit" sign. Meeting point is between the rail 1 and Railway stations main building.
