Detailed itinerary

1

Built in 1944, this Franciscan church from its inception became a tourist and cultural icon of the city. It is inspired by medieval European architecture combining Romanesque with Gothic, styles in which it has great influence. A true evocation of culture and religiosity.

2

It is the meeting place of the citizenry with nature, the preferred place of the immortal vat Manuel Ortiz Guerrero (poet) where his remains lie on the shores of Lake Ykua Pyta. The space brings together a variety of activities for family enjoyment, and is home to the iconic carpinchos or capybaras.

3

The main square that evokes the heroes of the greatest wars in Paraguay’s independent history (La de la 70 y del chaco) thus also treasures at its center a monument to Villarrica’s moves, traversing the origins of this city with more than 450 years.

4

The site was originally the cemetery of the Jesuits until their expulsion, since then in the hands of the Franciscans the convent of Santa Barbara was established and closed by Dr. France in 1824. The building that stands today began construction in 1907 and opened under the administration of Cosme Codas in 1913.

5

It is one of the oldest and most preserved buildings in the city. It was a school in its inception whose students were great heroes and personalities of Paraguayan history and culture. It currently holds the most important material heritage treasures of Guaira.

6

An architectural gem of the city, it was built between 1883 and 1891. It is characterized by its neo-Romanesque architecture with neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque details. The cathedral is shaped like a Latin cross and for its interior decoration materials of the Franciscans were used.

7

Originally known as "December 25", it was renamed in honor of Paraguay's independence and freedom. In the center of the square stands the imposing statue of Liberty, created in 1917 by the Paraguayan artist Francisco Almeida, one of the first Paraguayan sculptors trained in Rome and Paris. The statue depicts Liberta, the Roman goddess of freedom.

8

Since its origins, I represent the headquarters of national institutions, the national police, the seat of delegation of government and is currently the Governorate of the IV Department of Guaira.
