The Temple of Poseidon is one of the most impressive ancient temples in Greece, located on the cliff of Sounion, offering stunning views of the Aegean Sea. Built in the 5th century BC, the temple is dedicated to Poseidon, the god of the sea, and is considered one of the most significant ancient monuments in the country.

The architecture of the temple is characteristic of classical Greek style, with 38 columns, of which 16 are still standing today. The columns are made of white Pentelic marble, making the temple even more imposing. Additionally, this religious monument held strategic importance, as naval passages through the Aegean could be monitored from here.
