First we step into a longstanding local chili parlor just steps from the Capitol grounds. Enjoy a steaming bowl of their signature chili topped with a perfectly cooked egg—an Austin tradition that will warm you up from the very first bite.

We head south to a famous barbecue haven on Barton Springs Road. You and your partner will share tender, smoky brisket—prepared low and slow over wood flames—while learning the secrets of Texas pitmaster techniques.

Back on South Congress, you’ll indulge in a light, airy pancake that’s practically its own food group here. Served fresh off the griddle, these little blue beauties are the perfect balance of fluffy and flavorful. Quickly following up with some local ice cream or coffee!

Meeting point

We meet on 12th st. street across from the Capitol, with Lavaca Street in between the meeting point and the Capitol. There's a parking garage here as well as street parking. Our guide will arrive in a white Ford Bronco, with it's hazard lights on and roof open, that way you can spot him easily!
