This splendid fjord and its sandy beach represent a small piece of the area's ancient history: tradition tells that it was right here that Saint Peter landed during his journey to Rome. In memory of this event, along the path leading to the fjord, there is the chapel bearing the same name, which is said to have been built with the same stones that were used in the construction of the previous Abbey of Saint Peter. According to legend, it was built on the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to the god Apollo, which would explain the name "Crapolla".
