Opened in 1993 within the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, the Museum of the Imperial Collections, Sannonaru Shozokan, is home to priceless artworks that were previously passed down in the Imperial Family. The museum’s collection spans diverse genres from calligraphy, painting to decorative arts, including many iconic, celebrated works from each period of Japan’s history. After a temporary closure to expand the exhibition spaces, the museum has been partially reopened in November 2023. Discover the new museum and its exhibitions through a private curator-guided tour.

On October 23, 2019, Hotel New Otani was honored to be
commissioned to host the Enthronement Banquet for the second time since the Heisei era.
The exquisite dishes that impressed guests from 190 countries at this historic banquet have been arranged into a special menu so that many more guests can be satisfied with them.
