Beng Mealea Temple, known as the Temple of Lotus Pond, is a significant structure from the Angkor Wat period, situated approximately 77 km from Siem Reap by road. Constructed in the early 12th century under the reign of King Suriyavaraman II, this temple was originally built as a Hindu place of worship dedicated to the deity Vishnu.
