Almost all Sengen Shrines are within the sight of Mount Fuji. If Mount Fuji cannot be clearly seen due to the distance or obstacles, a Fujizuka made of Mount Fuji rocks will be erected in the shrine as Mount Fuji. ‌
‌Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha‌ is a shrine in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is the head shrine of the Sengen Shrine and the center of Mount Fuji worship. The main deity is Konohana no Sakuyahime (Asama Okami). Legend has it that it was built by Sakanoue Tamuramaro at the order of Emperor Heijo in 806 AD. The shrine was revered by many famous samurai in the Middle Ages, such as Minamoto no Yoritomo and Takeda Shingen.
