The excursion starts from Etna Nord - tourist station of Piano Provenzana qt. 1,800 meters and continues along the scenic road that, between ancient craters and recent lava flows, will allow us to reach qt. First to the ruins of the hotel "Le Betulle", the only structure visible among those destroyed by the lava flow of 2002. Next stage an easy trek to the characteristic button craters of the eruption of 27 October 2002. From qt. 2,050 mt. about it will be possible to see the lava flow that destroyed Piano Provenzana. Return to the vehicles, stop at qt. 2.380 mt. to the large extinct craters "Umberto and Margherita" for a short trek. Next step arrival by 4x4 bus to the Volcanological Observatory, from here short trek to the top of the promontory of Pizzi Deneri qt. 3,000 meters. where, in absolute safety, we will be dominated by the Summit Craters. From the volcanological observatory you will wait for sunset and then return to Piano Provenzana.
Departures scheduled every day from Piano Provenzana, north side of Etna, with special 4×4 off-road vehicles of the latest generation, environmental class euro 5 and euro 6 regularly authorized by the Etna Park Authority.
The excursion to the summit area, assisted by mountain or volcanological guides authorized by law, starts at an altitude of 1,800 meters (Piano Provenzana) and continues along the scenic road that, among ancient craters and recent lava flows, will allow us to reach an altitude of about 3,000 meters.
How to reach us by car
A18 direction MESSINA-CATANIA or CATANIA-MESSINA, exit at Fiumefreddo, take the SS 120 direction Linguaglossa. Once in Linguaglossa take the provincial road Mareneve and follow it until you get to the ticket office of Piano Provenzana, Etna Nord.
