Cathedral of San Lorenzo
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is the main religious building in the city. Built between the 11th and 14th centuries, it captivates with its black and white marble facade and Gothic interior. It houses the Treasure Museum, which preserves the Holy Basin – according to tradition, the Holy Grail – and other precious liturgical objects.
Old Port
Completely redeveloped by Renzo Piano, Porto Antico is now one of the most visited areas of Genoa. Here you will find the Aquarium of Genoa, the Bigo (panoramic lift), the Biosphere, the Museum of the Sea and many pedestrian areas perfect for walking among bars, restaurants and historic boats. It is the ideal place to experience the sea in the city.
Via Garibaldi
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the most beautiful roads in Europe. Also known as "Strada Nuova", it houses the sumptuous Palazzi dei Rolli, ancient noble residences open to visitors, now home to museums such as Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Tursi, where you can admire works by Rubens, Van Dyck and Caravaggio.
Church and Cloister of San Matteo
The Church of San Matteo, built in 1125, is a masterpiece of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. It was the burial place of Admiral Andrea Doria. The cloister, hidden and silent, preserves its mystical atmosphere with elegant columns and carved capitals.
Esplanade Castelletto and Panoramic Lift
For a breathtaking view of the city and the harbor, just take the ancient Liberty elevator from Piazza Portello and climb to the Spianata Castelletto. From here you can enjoy an unforgettable view of the roofs, towers, domes and the sea: the perfect place for spectacular photos and to breathe the soul of Genoa from above.
Christopher Columbus House and Soprano Gate
A few steps from Piazza Dante is the House of Christopher Columbus, where according to tradition the famous Genoese navigator lived during his youth. Next to it stands the Porta Soprana, one of the ancient medieval gates of the city, perfectly preserved, which once marked the entrance to the walled Genoa. The whole creates a historical corner full of charm.
Piazza de Ferrari
It is the main square of the city and the beating heart of modern Genoa. The large fountain in the center is surrounded by historic buildings such as the Carlo Felice Theatre, the Palazzo della Borsa and the Palazzo Ducale. Here art, culture, events and shopping meet.
Church of Santissima Annunziata del Vastato
A few steps from Via Balbi, along the ancient route of the city, stands one of the most scenic churches in Genoa: the Santissima Annunziata del Vastato. The simple exterior does not reveal the richness of the interior, one of the greatest examples of Genoese Baroque. The naves, completely frescoed, are a riot of gold, stucco and paintings that leave you breathless. Among the masterpieces present, works by artists such as Giovanni Andrea Ansaldo and Domenico Piola. It is a real surprise for visitors, often called the “most beautiful church in Genoa”.
For any information or information material in addition to the audio guide, you can find us open every day from 10am to 6.30pm right on the Square.
