Begin your journey on the serene Tihany Peninsula, a nature reserve nestled on a volcanic hill jutting into Lake Balaton. Admire breathtaking views, quaint lavender fields, and charming cottages as your guide shares stories of the region’s unique geology, local traditions, and monastic past.
You’ll still have the chance to admire the exterior of Tihany Abbey—an iconic twin-towered Baroque church perched high above the lake.
After soaking in the peninsula’s natural beauty, continue to Balatonfüred, a 19th-century resort town renowned for its healing waters and elegant lakeside promenade. Stroll past graceful villas and tranquil parks as you hear tales of Hungarian aristocrats and poets who once found inspiration here.
Step inside the Benedictine Abbey to uncover its rich religious and cultural legacy, from intricate frescoes to the story of King Andrew I who founded the monastery in the 11th century.
