Mount Eden is called Maungawhau in Maori. It is one of the 14 Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains) in the Auckland region. It is an extinct volcano that erupted 28,000 years ago and is now 196 metres high, making it the highest volcano in Auckland. From the summit of Mount Eden, you can enjoy stunning views of Auckland City and the harbour to the east, west, north, south and south.
