Depart Skagway for a 10-mile (16 km) scenic van tour along the coastline to the Chilkoot Trail trailhead and then enjoy 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking and 40 minutes on the raft. The hike is moderately strenuous so please be in good condition. Have your camera ready for occasional wildlife sightings both on land and in the water. Get away from the crowds in Skagway and get immersed in the natural beauty of the Dyea valley during the coastal forest hike and while floating down the peaceful river.

MEETING INSTRUCTIONS: We meet you at YOUR cruise ship pier tour meeting area. Do not go to a different cruise ship pier than yours. Look for representative holding a SKAGWAY FLOAT TOURS sign. Please be 10-15 minutes early. Alternatively, meet at our office 3rd and Broadway in the Golden North Hotel. Look for the Large Golden Dome on the top of the building. Please check in so we know you are meeting there instead of your ship pier.
Call 907-713-7527/907-983-3688 if you need help. Ship pickup is default for cruise ship passengers unless you check in at our office or call ahead to change your pickup.
Chilkoot Trail Hike & Float Tour includes scenic 10-mile coastal van drive to Dyea with 2 mile moderate-strenuous hike of 1.5-2 hours, approx. 40-minute float on Taiya River, and light snack. Tour duration is approx. 4 hours.
Tour operates in rainy weather, please dress in layers, including waterproof rain jacket (and rain pants if desired). Wear sturdy walking shoes with good traction. Life jacket, Rubber boots, and Rain Poncho (if needed) are provided for the raft portion. Hiking pole available. Please be in good physical condition for the moderate-strenuous hike. If you have knee, ankle, back, balance. or other health issues, please consider your participation in this tour. If you are not able to hike, we have an alternative and you will meet up for the float portion. The alternate is not an equivalent of the Chilkoot hike and can involve wait time. Please advise us if you may need this service. Due to safety reasons and tour schedule, our guides will strongly advise you to do the alternate if they feel your participation in the hike to be too strenuous for your ability level. All participants must sign a Visitor Acknowledgement of Risks at the beginning of tour. Children under 18 require parent/guardian signature. Minimum age is 5 years old. Maximum group size is 11. Groups over 11 will be divided into second group with second guide/raft and potential other guests.
