About this experience

Monkeyland is the world's first and largest free-roaming primate sanctuary hosting 9 exotic and indigenous species and over 550 primates. At Monkeyland you will go on a 1-hour, guided tour into the 12-hectare forest with one of the trained professional guides. The guides will attempt to find many different species and give the you ample time to take photos and ask questions. Group size is limited to 16 guests.

You can book a guided tour in French but we would need a minimum of 48 hours notification and a set time of arrival to guarantee this for you.

On this platform you can buy a single ticket for Monkeyland or a combination with Monkeyland and Birds of Eden (world's largest single dome aviary). That is a combo ticket. You can also buy a TripTic which is the best Per sanctuary rate for Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have a child who is not yet 3 you do not have to pay for them just bring them along as we are open to all ages.

The aim of the sanctuary is to afford these wonderfully intelligent creatures a healthier, more natural life and aims to raise public awareness about primates. Over 550 apes, monkeys and lemurs live at Monkeyland. On arrival in the parking lot you will go through a screening station where we require everyone aged 3 and up to have a form filled in and temperature taken from the wrist. You will then be escorted to reception where after you have your ticket one of our guides will take you on a 45 min to 1-hour tour. If you require a guided tour not to be in English but in Afrikaans, German or French then please book this at least 48 hours in advance. On your tour with one of the most experienced primate guides in South Africa, you will see an array of primates living out their natural lives in the 12-ha indigenous forest. This sanctuary is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Wheelchair accessible. All Weather facility Masks are required at all times.
